The Decision

When Dan and I decided to start a family we knew there would be good days and bad days. We spoke at length of our hopes and dreams, what we were and were not going to do, what sort of parents we would be.

There would be no children’s television on in our house, we weren’t going to ever have the children in our bed, routine would reign supreme in our house!

Everyone’s an expert until those little loves arrive and all the bullshit goes out of the window. You’d do anything for them, anything to make them smile, anything to make them happy.

You appretiate your own parents more as you suddenly realise what they went through with you. All the sleepless nights, dirty nappies, random toddler bitch fits. They still love you. They’re your first friends.

I hope my girls feel as comfortable with me as I am with my parents. They might not think it but they did/are still doing an awesome job.

Deciding to start a family was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made. It’s nothing remarkable, we are not the first and won’t be the last but we are rich. We’re poor as shit at the moment but we are rich.

Im shattered but happy, the future holds a lot of love and laughs, tears and tantrums.

We knew what to expect but didn’t have a bloody clue.
