Losing the Baby Weight

Most women manage to gain weight during pregnancy and the new baby stage – I distinctly recall being told – nay promised that breastfeeding helps you lose weight. LIES. Breastfeeding made me want to eat the world. The Sleep deprivation didn’t help either – when you’re awake for twenty three hours of the day you do actually feel that you need to eat more so you can keep going. New mothers are machines.

I promised myself I wouldn’t gain three stone during pregnancy the second time around – I mean – I was already two dress sizes bigger than the non mother version of me!

I gained one and a half stone.

Gutted.

So my youngest is nearly two – I’m officially not a new mother any more and I never will be again (we only have enough love [sanity] for two) and I STILL haven’t lost the Baby weight.

All three stone of it.

I started the Couch to 5k back in April which has helped me change shape, I’ve dropped a dress size which is a great start, but I still have a long way to go.

Having recently completed my first 10k, I’ll be starting training soon for my first planned half marathon in April next year (one year on from my first ever run of five times one minute intervals) so hopefully that and following the rules of Slimming World will make a difference (along with sewing up my mouth, putting down the fork and stepping away from the fridge!)

If that doesn’t work I could always look at some sort of pharmaceutical help – apparently these canĀ help you to lose an extra 1lb for every 2lb you would lose by diet and exercise alone.

Maybe science is the answer?

Maybe I should bake less, but this would turn my family into dementors.

How did you lose the Baby weight?
