With the school holidays right around the corner all of a sudden, thoughts are naturally turning to fun, sun-filled trips away with the family – or, if you’re really lucky and can get a trusted baby-sitter for a few days, you could live the dream and go away child free!
While some lucky, well organised folk are on the count down, having booked months and months ago, others (cough-me-cough) are not. So now the planning begins in earnest.
Obviously prices can increase by an alarming amount during the school holidays, but there are bargains to be had whether you book in advance or leave it to the last minute.
I have been on many all inclusive package deals, and while I do love that sort of holiday, this year I’m going to hire a villa for the first time and I’ve found some surprisingly good deals on Clickstay.
We’ve been to Spain loads of times, having visited quite a few different places, and we always have such a lovely time. We haven’t managed to get to Lanzarote yet, so the idea of renting a villa has really got me thinking. I love the idea of being self contained – we have a five year old with an appetite like a bin lorry, so being able to throw something together for her whenever she asks really appeals to me (kids always want to eat when the all inclusive restaurants are closed!)
I found this place while looking for Villas in Lanzarote and it’s perfect – a short walk in to town – it’s so close I think even our three year old could just about manage it without demanding a high shoulders – the villa is right next to the beach, there’s a heated, private out door swimming pool and it’s not too far from the airport – no one likes a mega long transfer!
I’ve selected a week slap-bang in the middle of the school holidays (not only is the five year old about to move up to year one – I also work term time only in a school, so going outside of the holidays is not an option for us) – from Saturday the 10th-Saturday the 17th of August – the price is just over £860 for the week – this is so cheap, when we would usually be forking out £500-600 per person for an all-inclusive deal.
There are options on this site costing literally half the price, but having a private garden and a heated swimming pool over looking the mountains is well worth the extra cash to me!
My husband isn’t a great beach lover, so he can swan off to the golf course down the road during the week to give his moaning face a rest while the children and I play/chill on the beach.
Also, I know this is such a boring middle aged thing to say, but it’s really handy that there’s a washing machine – yes – I’ll hang my head in shame for admitting it, but that is really convenient!
This has me thinking about next year too – I’ve seen some fabulous deals in Rhodes…
