Dealing with the winter blues is easy when you can focus on the fun days out to come in the Spring and beyond. The good news, though, is that just because it’s cold outside, doesn’t mean that days out with the kids can’t be enjoyed. Wrapping up warm and heading out into the world is important for kids; they need the air, nature and generally getting stuck into having a ton of fun.
There are plenty of days out to be had and children love to be able to bring their imaginations to the table to have fun. Keeping the kids busy is paramount for parents and for a happy family life and not only that, but you’re building memories for them at the same time. Below, you’ll find four fun ideas for family days out that can make those winter blues turn into yellow, sunshine memories you’ll never forget:
The Enchanted Forest, Groombridge
Fairies, knights and Christmas lights, anyone? Taking the children to The Enchanted Forest is a great way to pass the time and offer them a way to enhance their imaginations. Activities on offer depend on the season, from watching a play together to searching for the fairies in the woods. Kids will love this day out for its magic, glitter and adventure. Zip wires, archery and a Nerf gun firing range are just the start.
Bounce Indoor Trampoline Park, Bletchley
A cold day outdoors doesn’t mean that you can’t have fun with the kids. Keep them active and enjoying themselves with trampolines lining the walls and the floors makes bouncing more fun than ever. Your kids will love having fun while bouncing out the energy.
They’ll be exhausted and exhilarated by the end of it!
Willows Activity Farm, St Albans
A farm geared towards children, you’ll find fun shows, fun fair rides and inflatables for the children to enjoy. There are indoor soft play areas, carousels and an entry into the Peter Rabbit Adventure Playground – and all of this included in the entry price. They’ve got eating areas, free parking and gift shops for families to enjoy. Willows Activity Farm is more than just a farm. There’s even a day nursery; which is why it’s the perfect place for families.
Blue Reef Aquarium, Hastings
The world may be colder outside, but when you’re looking through the glass at an underwater world, the cold seems to go away. There are fish and animals of all shapes and colours, as well as a few bitey sharks to add some adventure to the day. You can attend presentations to learn about the fish and get a front row seat at animal feeding times, as well. There’s a reptile handling section as well as an encounter with creepy crawlies – the kids will love it.
There’s no need to let the winter ruin your family adventures when you can find time to get to the indoor activities that will make the kids find their sense of adventure again.
